How do I remove the author name from a Word document without Word?
Drop the .docx file above. The author, last-modified-by name, company, and all other identifying properties are removed in your browser and you download a clean copy. You don't need Microsoft Word installed, and the file is never uploaded to any server.
Can I remove tracked changes from a Word document online safely?
Yes — unlike other online tools, this one never receives your document. All tracked insertions are accepted, all tracked deletions are discarded, and the reviewer names attached to them are removed, entirely on your device. The result matches Word's own Accept All Changes and Stop Tracking.
How do I remove all comments from a Word document online?
Drop the .docx above with Remove comments checked (it is by default). Every comment, every reply, and every comment author's name is deleted from the document — in your browser, without the file being uploaded anywhere.
Is my confidential document uploaded to a server?
No. The file is opened by JavaScript running in your browser tab, cleaned in memory, and downloaded directly. No bytes of your document ever leave your device — which is the whole point for legal, HR, and other confidential files.
Does cleaning change the document content or formatting?
No. Text, formatting, images, tables, and layout are untouched. Only document properties are cleared, comments are deleted, and tracked changes are resolved exactly as if you had accepted them all.
Which file formats are supported?
Modern Office formats: .docx (Word), .xlsx (Excel), and .pptx (PowerPoint). Legacy binary formats (.doc, .xls, .ppt) aren't supported — open them in any Office app and save in the modern format first.
